Position Summary
Responsible for handling heavy equipment damage assignments.
- The ideal candidate can work anywhere in the Erie Footprint
- The ideal candidate will work in the closest Erie Branch office to where they reside
- This is an in-office position with hybrid flexibility
Duties and Responsibilities
- Handles heavy equipment damage assignments including, but not limited to, trucks and trailers of all sizes, bulldozers, earth movers, drag lines and cranes.
- Writes or reviews estimates on heavy equipment losses, arranges repairs and negotiates repair costs with repair shops.
- Negotiates equipment downtime claims.
- Establishes value and settles total losses, disposes of salvage and keeps related records.
- Distinguishes cause of damage for appropriate policy coverages. Checks coverage on all losses. (Confirms coverage).
- Issues settlement checks and keeps appropriate records.
- Contacts Policyholders and claimants regarding complaints stemming from original adjustment.
- Serves as a consultant to the branch offices on heavy equipment losses.

Minimum Educational Requirements
- High school degree or equivalent required.
Additional Experience
- Six years of material damage adjusting experience and some heavy equipment adjusting experience, or
- Equivalent experience as a heavy equipment repairman, mechanic or estimator.
- Extensive knowledge of heavy equipment field, including ability to estimate damage and establish value of heavy equipment required.
Designations and/or Licenses
- Ability to obtain and pass licensing exams as needed to service ERIE footprint.
