Position Summary
Designs, programs and maintains The ERIE's Building Automation System (BAS) to ensure efficient and effective control of lighting and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) operations for all company-owned buildings.
There are two positions available.
The position requires the incumbent to provide 24 hour availability for emergency call-in service or travel
Preferred Systems Experience
- At least 3 years with Tridium Niagara
- At least 3 years with Schneider Electric PME
Duties and Responsibilities
- Designs, develops and implements control schemes and strategies for all HVAC and lighting equipment for all company-owned buildings, to ensure minimal downtime, proper operation and energy efficiency.
- Designs, maintains and updates reports and records regarding energy sources and savings, year-end utility costs and system analysis.
- Works closely with HVAC and Electrical Unit personnel or ERIE office personnel, to commission new and existing mechanical equipment and make necessary program adjustments and enhancements.
- Works closely with HVAC and Electrical Unit personnel or ERIE office personnel to diagnose system and mechanical problems, performs preventative maintenance and determine appropriate corrective action through repair coordination.
- Provides training, direction and assistance regarding the operation and monitoring the Building Automation System.
- Prepares and maintains detailed drawings of special HVAC and electrical system projects as required.
- Visits ERIE owned office locations, as required, to assist in the design and maintenance of building automation strategies and systems and/or overall site inspections.
- Remains current on trends and developments related to building automation systems and related programming languages.

Qualifications
Minimum Educational and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or related field, and two years’ experience as an HVAC mechanic or Building Automation System Control Strategy programming required; or
- Associate's degree in mechanical engineering, or related field, and four years’ experience as an HVAC mechanic or Building Automation System Control Strategy programming required; or
- High School diploma or GED and six years’ experience as an HVAC mechanic, or related occupation with at least four years of previous experience in Building Automation System Control Strategy programming required.
Additional Experience
- Knowledge of Building Automation system programming languages required.
- The position requires the incumbent to provide 24 hour availability for emergency call-in service or travel.
All Employees with a telecommuting arrangement in which they consistently work remotely during part, or all, of their work schedule must have in their regular remote work location, access to business class internet service providing 3 megabytes (3 MBs) or more of bandwidth. For this purpose, business class internet means internet service with a static IP address, dedicated connections and guarantees or service level agreements (SLAs) addressing relevant performance characteristics. The internet service bandwidth requirement is subject to revision from time to time based on the requirements of ERIE’s systems.
