Position Summary

Assists in the development, implementation, and administration of the activities of any work team of the Compliance Department. Participates in and completes projects of low complexity and may assist on projects of moderate complexity, specializing in the following area:


Insurance Regulatory

Communicates, monitors, and tracks laws, regulations, and insurance department guidelines and assists in determining company impact.

Assists with internal investigations involving Agents. 

Communicates, tracks and monitors completion of required Anti-Money Laundering Agent training.

Leads the coordination of weather moratoriums.

Leads and coordinates responses to requests for information from insurance departments and regulatory agencies; reviews for accuracy and completeness; prepares related communications; and maintains documentation.

Provides guidance on and monitors corrective action plans.

Develops and maintains relationships with state insurance departments and regulatory agencies.

Performs ad hoc regulatory research.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Handles confidential and/or restricted information in an appropriate manner. Develops a thorough understanding of ERIE's business practices and operations.
  • Develops an understanding of Department of Justice (DOJ) Federal Sentencing Guidelines and applicability to the Compliance Program
  • Gathers information from business areas on current processes. Reviews information and assists in determining if there is a compliance issue.
  • Leads meetings and works with Employees and management in all areas of the company to ensure that all reasonable efforts are made to achieve compliance in company operations.
  • Detects, monitors, researches, and reports on low complexity compliance matters throughout the company.  Refers more complex compliance matters to senior staff or management for guidance.
  • Utilizes compliance tools to monitor and track compliance projects, issues, and inquiries. Recommends enhancements as needed.
  • Communicates the mission and objectives of the compliance function.

Qualifications

Minimum Educational and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in property/casualty insurance, life insurance, healthcare, health insurance, financial services, or other business or industry with a similar work environment, required; or
  • Associate degree and/or Paralegal Degree/Certificate and four years of experience in property/casualty insurance, life insurance, healthcare, health insurance, financial services, or other business or industry with a similar work environment required; or
  • High school diploma or GED and six years of experience in property/casualty insurance, life insurance, healthcare, health insurance, financial services, or other business or industry with a similar work environment, required.


Additional Experience 

  • Working knowledge of regulatory processes preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, SharePoint) required.
  • Willingness to develop understanding of relevant Compliance-related systems preferred.
  • Occasional overnight travel required.


Designations and/or Licenses 

  • Willingness to pursue further knowledge/training/education related to the current position, such as: Associate in Insurance Regulation and Compliance (ARC), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Market Conduct Management (MCM), Certificate of Compliance and Ethics Professional Program (CCEP), Certified Records Manager (CRM), or Essentials of Records and Information Management (RIM) Certificate, required.
