*This range represents a national range and the actual salary will depend on several factors including the scope and complexity of the role and the skills, education, training, credentials, location, and experience of an applicant, as well as level of role for which the successful candidate is hired. Position may be eligible for an annual bonus payment.

Position Summary
The training portion of the program will be held virtually, and selected individuals will work from home within ERIE’s operating footprint during the approximately 22-week program.

Duties and Responsibilities
This intensive, hands-on training is designed to prepare you for immediate success as a District Sales Manager (DSM) upon completion. You’ll work directly with our top-performing Sales Management team and Independent Agents while gaining exclusive access to Senior and Executive Leadership — building the skills, confidence, and relationships needed to excel.
Following successful completion of the DSM Training Program, you will be assigned to one of our Branch Offices and permanently relocated to that territory.
*Relocation is a required component of the program, and assignment location is determined by ERIE’s business needs. To ensure your success, ERIE provides exceptional relocation assistance and transition support. Our current operating footprint includes: IL, IN, KY, MD, NC, NY, OH, PA, TN, VA, Washington D.C., WV, and WI.
Once assigned, you’ll work remotely from your new territory, equipped with a company car and all necessary technology to succeed in your new role.
In This Role, You Will:

Manage a territory of approximately 25 agencies in sales, underwriting, profitability, and agency management

Support, coach, and motivate Independent Agents to achieve business goals

Recruit, train, and develop new Agents

Serve as an Agent’s knowledge broker and subject matter expert on ERIE products
Training Overview
Participants in the program will:
-
Engage in comprehensive training on field and home office sales operations
-
Learn the fundamentals of sales management, risk management, and branch account operations
-
Gain exposure to leadership development, strategic planning, and customer relationship management
Duties and Responsibilities (cont'd if applicable)
- Participates in ERIE's district sales manager training program. Completes assigned projects independently using information and skills learned.
- Applies product knowledge and acquired skills to assist with operations in assigned Agent offices. Trains Agents on matters pertaining to product knowledge, underwriting Agency operations and sales. Discusses proposed business with Agents and clients and gathers underwriting information used to determine the acceptance or rejection of a risk. Advises clients of coverages necessary to achieve individual insurance goals.
- Accompanies sales managers, claims and underwriting personnel on Agent visitations, including short-form inspections. Develops productive working relationships with Agents to enhance ERIE's quality growth.
- Serves as company representative in maintaining favorable Policyholder relationships. Works closely with adjusters and other claims personnel to resolve issues or related matters. Responds to inquiries from Policyholders, Agents and branch office personnel regarding claims matters.
- Implements sales promotion programs and communicates relevant information to Agents.
- Inspects prospective and existing risks as directed and prepares reports, including scaled drawings and photographs. Assists in reviewing results of inspection with Policyholders. Explains recommendations regarding hazard reduction, elimination and other loss measures.
- Attends annual sales conference and Agent education exchange seminars.
- Attends Life and Property and Casualty licensing school and participates in exams.
- Completes special projects as required.

Qualifications
Minimum Educational and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, required; or
- Associate’s degree and two years of sales, underwriting, claims or marketing experience, required; or
- High school diploma or GED and four years of sales, underwriting, claims or marketing experience, required. Master’s degree preferred.
Additional Experience
- Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software required.
- Willingness to relocate to other offices required.
- Frequent travel required.
Designations and/or Licenses
- Completion of insurance designations such as CIC or CPCU preferred.
- Willingness to pursue insurance designations required.
- Successful completion of Life and Property/Casualty licensing exams required to complete training program.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.
