Position Summary

Erie Insurance is continuing to hire and is utilizing virtual interviews to ensure the well-being of our candidates and employees. Please note there may be delays in our hiring process.

Coordinates investigations related to Employee concerns, third party charges and whistleblower reports. Provides employee relations support to all home and field office Employees and management. Conducts specialized research and completes special projects.

The successful candidate will support Erie Insurance’s employee-centric culture.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinates investigations related to Employee concerns, third party charges and whistleblower reports. Obtains and analyzes statements, reports and records to develop and preserve information concerning allegations of misconduct. Serves as a liaison with other functions, such as Law, Absence Management and Corporate Security, as appropriate, to see issues through to resolution.
  • Provides employee relations support to all ERIE Employees and management. Advises on various human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards and government regulations.
  • Works with human resource (HR) generalists and management regarding disciplinary issues. Interacts with leaders to review disciplinary procedures and ensure that all corrective actions comply with company policies and practices.
  • Advises management and non-management personnel on the interpretation of company policies and practices. Collaborates with Law and other compliance functions to develop and modify policies as appropriate or necessary. Coordinates updating and maintenance of employee handbook and corporate personnel manual.
  • Advises on HR compliance topics regarding preferred method of adoption, distribution, communication and maintenance of HR policy changes. Works with other areas in the organization to implement the lifecycle of employment-related compliance initiatives. Develops and implements related project plans as appropriate.
  • Monitors, develops and adapts exit and retention procedures including terminations of employment. Coordinates responses to unemployment claims, including collaboration with HR generalists, management, Law and third party vendor as required.
  • Documents voluntary and involuntary terminations of employment, including retirements. Directs the completion of all paperwork and exit interviews and prepares related analyses and reports. Maintains related files.
  • Assists with onboarding of new HR generalists and leadership personnel regarding matters of policy and practice. Creates and presents associated information as part of training events, etc. as required.

    Minimum education and experience requirements are as follows:
    Bachelor's degree in business, human resources or a related field, and five years experience in employee relations, or a related human resources field required.  Or; Associate’s degree in a related field and seven years of related experience required.  Or; High school diploma and nine years of experience in employee relations required. Masters degree in business, human resources or a related field preferred. In-depth knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws, including current employment policies, practices and trends required. Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) preferred. Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software required. Working knowledge of database and human resources
    management systems software preferred. Some overnight travel required.
