Position Summary
- The Hiring Manager will also consider candidates for the Senior Finance Business Partner role (F12). Level of position offered will be based upon the depth and breadth of selected candidate's experience and qualifications.
- Prior experience in IT Financial management preferred.
Independently contributes by supporting executive and senior management in the development of corporate and/or divisional plans and forecasts. Coordinates related financial and/or workforce planning processes. Conducts analysis of forecasts to actual results and may develop recommended actions to achieve the forecasts. Conducts ad hoc financial analysis and decision support activities for the corporate and/or divisional level. Provides financial thought leadership and direction to business partners in support of highly visible business initiatives. Independently leads key finance projects and manages complex problem resolution. Acts as a subject matter expert and provides additional guidance to less experienced finance business partner staff as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
Works with business leaders to create financially sound business plans. Assists in the cascading of plans to departments. Assists business leaders in actualizing their business plans within their scope of responsibility. Participates in discussion and decision-making processes for technology, business, and/or human resource investments to ensure that business planning and purpose are considered in all key decisions.
Coordinates the strategic planning and forecasting process, along with analysis over comparison to actuals, for assigned areas of responsibility. Provides financial support and leadership through operating cycles.
Leads the development of financial and operating statistics for assigned areas, to create and drive consistent performance accountability metrics and standards. Identifies improvement opportunities while prioritizing and assisting in implementation.
Performs and reviews peer group analyses and benchmark studies, including the environment, competitors, rating agencies, products, processes and regulations. Raises awareness as appropriate and recommends appropriate strategic financial alternatives in response to key issues identified.
Evaluates proposed project business cases for assigned areas and supports with the inclusion of appropriate and consistent project financials.
Develops presentations of financial and operational analysis for senior and executive management, and the Board.
Analyzes cost and workforce productivity. Understands the cost and human resource impact of business needs and supports the creation, implementation, and adjustment of related business plans. Aids areas of responsibility in improving productivity and modeling capabilities.

Provides corporate financial analysis of strategic initiatives as required. Applies financial expertise and business understanding through modeling, pro-formas, and analysis.
Analyzes and reports external economic trends, including effects of governmental legislation, and appraises financial effect on the company.
Organizes research and analyses over key business initiatives and develops presentations for senior management. Conducts sensitivity analysis and what-if scenarios to support business decision-making.
Develops financial acumen with business partners through articulation of key finance principles such as time value of money, opportunity cost, and cost structure.
Analyzes data for trends and investigates patterns, outliers, seasonality, and drivers in order to support decision-making and/or forecasting of future performance.
Communicates clearly in both formal and informal settings. Presents information and analysis persuasively and leads with insight. Escalates critical information timely to the business and finance as applicable.
Acts as subject matter expert over key systems and processes, and demonstrates exceptionally strong analytical and problem-solving skills with complex and multi-dimensional issues.
Completes special projects as required. Performs other duties as required.

Competencies
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, or related field, required. Eight years’ experience in financial analysis, corporate and strategic planning, financial reporting, financial statement auditing, or actuarial required. In depth knowledge of financial analysis, strategic and operational planning, and/or financial modeling required. Demonstrated analytical and forecasting experience in income statement and balance sheet areas required. Strong background in automated information systems, financial reporting requirements and/or modeling tools required. Working knowledge of GAAP required. MBA or CPA preferred. Experience with Hyperion preferred. Experience in an insurance company preferred. The position requires the incumbent to work weekends and restrict vacation during peak periods.
