Position Summary

Participates in defining and driving a knowledge management & learning content strategy, goals, objectives, and initiatives across the enterprise.


Researches and writes diverse and sometimes complex content translating it into clear, concise, and comprehensive knowledge for the targeted audience.

 

Leads and mentors less experienced knowledge specialists.

Duties and Responsibilities

Analyzes new knowledge asset requests, elicits requirements, researches the subject matter, performs audience analysis, writes content according to standards, provides direction for proper publishing format and location, and publishes knowledge assets.

 

Manages multiple knowledge & learning content asset projects of varying complexity simultaneously. Projects can be independent of a project or part of a larger project.

 

Supports the learning content management effort, provides technical guidance, adheres to learning content management standards and practices, maintains updates to learning content.

 

Develops knowledge asset project & maintenance plans with work estimates, when appropriate, and manages to the plan and estimate.


Performs quality testing on systems when developing knowledge assets & learning content and reports detects and errors.

 

Provides editing counsel to less experienced team members to improve accuracy, consistency, conciseness, and readability.

 

Participates in research and provides input into potential tools, techniques, methodologies, processes, and metrics for knowledge management, technical writing & learning content.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in IT, MIS, Business, Technical Writing, English, Education, Instructional Design, or related field, plus one year related experience, or

Associate's degree in a technical field, plus four years' related experience, or

High school diploma, plus six years' related experience
Willingness to obtain the Certified Knowledge Management Specialist (CKM) certification.

Proficient in structured authoring, Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA), Extensible Markup Language (XML), minimalism, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and learning content software.
