Position Summary

Plans and manages market intelligence projects of high complexity, confidentiality and impact on the business primarily related to competitive intelligence, in areas such as agent, customer, brand, and product. Responsible for assessing information needs, designing studies, managing projects, analyzing results, and presenting key findings to aid in developing short- and long-term strategic marketing plans.

 

  • Successful candidate will be proficient in both qualitative and quantitative primary market research.
  • Successful candidate may work from PA, OH or NY with a hybrid schedule

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identifies short- and long-range market intelligence objectives related to targeted business objectives.
  • Monitors and reports on ERIE's competitive environment and related intelligence projects. Provides competitive and market insights and analysis using various primary and secondary sources. Analyzes the competitive landscape, marketplace and trends to assist in planning. Recommends changes to marketing and business strategies and tactics as appropriate.
  • Works with internal clients to determine intelligence, and data needs to meet annual objectives. Recommends, develops, and manages timely and cost-effective research plans, information systems, and dashboards. Focuses on key intelligence topics.
  • Maintains knowledge of current business and marketing activities. Identifies opportunities and makes recommendations as appropriate.
  • Aggregates, organizes, and synthesizes data; disseminates as appropriate.
  • Maintains a file of key intelligence topics related to the industry, competitors, products, service innovations and trends. Works with director to develop, communicate, and enforce standards for proper documentation and organization of electronic files, data and intelligence deliverables.
  • Develops partnerships across the organization to increase the impact of market research and intelligence, create profitable projects, enhance market penetration, grow revenue and gain competitive advantage. Serves as liaison to internal and external suppliers of customer and Agent data, and competitor insights. Serves as key contact with research suppliers.
  • Maintains current knowledge of intelligence processes, tools and trends. Identifies gaps in current services, proposes solutions, and implements as appropriate. Identifies process improvements.
  • Conducts and manages special research and analytic studies as directed.

Qualifications

The minimum education and experience requirements are as follows: • Bachelor's degree and eight years experience in market research, competitive analysis, strategic planning, financial analysis or related field; or • Associate degree and ten years experience in market research, competitive analysis, strategic planning, financial analysis or related field; or • High School diploma or GED and twelve years of experience required. Experience in insurance industry preferred. Willingness to continue education in insurance and market research required. Thorough understanding of competitive analysis, strategic and operational planning concepts required. Knowledge of statistical and financial analysis and quantitative techniques preferred. Project management experience preferred. Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, and flow-charting software required. Proficiency with research-specific, statistical and report-writing software preferred. Occasional overnight travel required.
