Position Summary

Erie Resource Management Corp., headquartered in Erie, PA, seeks a Master Engineer. This position involves the opportunity to work remotely from anywhere in the U.S. within ERIE’s expanding footprint, subject to management approval.  If working remotely, must travel to Erie, PA several times per year. Duties include: (i) creating and maintaining code/configurations as part of the software development lifecycle; (ii) focus on highly complex/impactful delivery items, new technology introduction, and high-level support for major incidents/production outages; (iii) effectively communicate with customers, teammates, or other stakeholders at multiple levels on information technology needs, specifications, development progress and support; (iv) proactively monitor the demand/capacity/security/performance of a technology domain and provide recommendations for maintaining service levels; (v) accountable for overall quality of a technology domain, including verifying the applied discipline through solution, design, code, and unit test reviews; documenting, scoring, improving, and reporting on non-functional requirements, and creating, maintaining and validating standards/patterns/disciplines/best practices to meet current and future needs; (vi) influence enterprise solution strategy and apply them through administrators and software engineers; (vii) maintain awareness of industry best-practices, opportunities, and risks related to the use of the key technology domain and forecast the future of the technology set, including capacity/performance planning, upgrades/security enhancements, or lifecycle management (sunset/replace); and (viii) train software engineers and IT administrators in solutions development concepts and provide feedback to and consult with management on administrator and software engineer strengths and areas of growth.

Qualifications

Must possess a bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Information Science and Engineering, or a related field, plus five (5) years of experience as a software engineer, software developer, IT analyst, programmer analyst or a related occupation.

The required 5 years (60 months) of experience must include each of the following: (a) 5 years of experience in application programming, coding and logic development; (b) 5 years of experience in unit test creation and execution; (c) 4 years of experience in creating technical design documents and architecture diagrams; (d) 4 years of experience in debugging and fixing defects to improve application quality, performance, and reliability; and (e) 4 years of experience in communication, collaboration, and mentoring with peers and stakeholders.
