Position Summary

Plays a critical role in ERIE’s strategic growth by leading cross functional teams to imagine and deliver future products, services, and experiences. Applies a deep understanding of customer-centered design process to guide teams through the design, test, and launch of new offerings and experiences. Sets strategic direction and identifies and prioritizes new business opportunities. Drives the adoption of customer-centric design principles and techniques collaboratively across the organization and industry, building internal and external partnerships to accelerate ERIE’s ability to bring new and differentiated ideas to market.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Executes a human-centered design process across ERIE’s Core Innovation horizon (e.g., enhancements to ERIE’s current products, services, and business that improve our value proposition, create differentiation, and elevate the experience for employees, policyholders, and agents).
  • Drives new sources of revenue for ERIE through execution of a human-centered design process for Non-Core Innovation opportunities (e.g., the discovery and development of products, services, and experiences that create new value beyond current products, services, and business).
  • Frames and plans Innovation initiatives from a business and customer-centric perspective, to be driven by the Innovation Team and internal or external partners.
  • Provides clear guidance to steer teams comprised of internal and external resources, using deep expertise in human-centered design process.
  • Manages an ambitious Innovation portfolio, driving multiple programs simultaneously.
  • Cultivates internal and external relationships to ensure buy-in and successful implementation of innovative solutions while building innovation expertise across the organization.
  • Maintains perspective on ERIE’s opportunity areas for Innovation by staying abreast of future market trends and forces, to make Innovation portfolio recommendations.
  • Embraces the entrepreneurial spirit by bringing energy, broadening perspectives and finding resourceful and practical solutions to problems.
  • Acts as a change agent to accelerate realization of ERIE’s Innovation Vision.

Qualifications

Minimum Educational and Experience Requirements 

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field such as business, design, research, etc. and seven years’ related experience, required; or
  • Associate’s degree in a related field such as business, design, research, etc. and nine years’ related experience, required; or
  • Highschool diploma or GED and eleven years’ related experience, required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

 

Additional Experience

  • Experience in innovation or human-centered design preferred.
