Position Summary
Exercises independent discretion and judgment in handling highly complex and/or high exposure commercial liability, commercial litigation, and non-litigated claims.
- The successful candidate will work from home and ideally live in the state of PA, however surrounding areas may be considered.
Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct investigations, evaluates and makes recommendations regarding coverage, liability, and resolution strategies.
Select, engage, and collaborate with defense counsel in the handling of lawsuits.
Manages litigation expenses and ensures that defense counsel adheres to ERIE's billing guidelines.
Comply with and directs defense counsels' utilization of Outside Counsel Guidelines.
Respond to claim complaints and inquiries.
Train and mentor.
Documents claim files.

Competencies
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 6 years' claim handling or related experience required, or;
Associate’s degree and 8 years' claim handling or related experience required; or
High school diploma or GED and 10 years' claim handling or related experience required.
Strong knowledge and experience in tort/contract law and complex/high exposure commercial claims handling required. Litigation claim handling experience preferred.
Completion of Associate in Claims (AIC), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Senior Claim's Law Associate (SCLA), or Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designations preferred.
Appropriate license as required by state. Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.
