Position Summary

Under minimal supervision, supports assigned human resource (HR) function with various clerical and administrative tasks. Provides customer service and counsels Employees and/or Agents in the interpretation of various HR programs and policies.

 

  • This position is based out of our Corporate Office in Erie, PA.
  • Candidates with finance/accounting backgrounds and experience highly preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Handles various inquiries regarding HR programs, including acting as a liaison between Employees or Agents and vendors or outside companies to resolve problems. Assists in handling and tracking Employee/vendor requests; investigates more complex issues or refers to supervisor.
  • Screens paperwork for accuracy and completeness. Enters and maintains data in HR and vendor systems. Prepares and maintains corresponding files. Runs, modifies and/or distributes corresponding reports.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding HR programs. Acts as a liaison between Employees or Agents and vendors or outside companies to resolve problems. Consults with supervisor on complex cases.
  • Coordinates logistics for visitors i.e., applicants, Agents, such as invitations, hotel accommodations, travel arrangements and agendas. Communicates information regarding programs and fulfills customer service needs of participants.
  • Responds to outside inquiries regarding programs and completes external surveys as needed..
  • Develops and maintains a working knowledge of ERIE's HR function related guidelines and programs, including systems. Trains new specialists and performs system testing as required.
  • Tracks and follows internal controls for reconciling invoices, accounts, taxes and/or applicable ledgers.
  • Follows and monitors regulatory compliance and requirements for SOX, taxes, privacy, FMLA, HIPPA or for the Department of Insurance for Continuing Education.
  • Orders department supplies, reconciles monthly purchasing card statements and prepares transaction logs.
  • Prepares and distributes information packets and/or individualized mailings regarding HR programs.
  • Performs various administrative and clerical duties, including opening, sorting and distributing incoming mail, and filing and assisting with the implementation of new or revised HR programs or procedures.
  • Assists supervisor with special assignments as directed. Prepares various reports and performs special projects as directed.

Qualifications

Minimum Educational Requirements

  • High school diploma, or GED, required.


Additional Experience 

  • Four years of experience in an office environment, preferably HR-related, required.
  • Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software required.
  • Familiarity with human resources management software preferred.
