Position Summary

Performs administration of networks, systems and databases which affect critical enterprise platforms that cross the organization and that impact a significant number of stakeholders. May develop complex, enterprise wide solutions and/or introduce new vendor relationships and/or new technology. May perform duties in one or more of the following disciplines: Database System Network Middleware

In addition, the following are preferred for this role:

  • Ability to work in a team environment - planning, driving, and executing against technical roadmaps to achieve solutions that support Erie’s Architectural principles and Engineering designs.
  • Infrastructure Process Automation capabilities (provisioning, decommissioning, software and configuration deployments, orchestration, infrastructure as code)
  • Scripting (PowerShell, Python, bash, etc)
  • Full stack web development and management
  • Python Web framework experience (Flask is preferred)
  • Experience with CI/CD workflows as part of the SDLC (GitLab)
  • Source Code management and version control (git)
  • Windows Server Operating Systems and Administration
  • Active Directory and Group Policy Administration
  • Hypervisor/Virtualization Technologies (installation, configuration, management and tuning, upgrades, trouble-shooting)
  • Server hardware familiarity (Cisco UCS, HP, Nutanix/Super Micro, other)
  • DDI Management (DNS, DHCP, IP Address Management)
  • NAS/File System/Share permissions and troubleshooting
  • Documentation (Checklists, Runbooks, standards, policies, procedures)
  • Solid understanding of the following concepts: Storage connectivity, Network communications, Firewalls, DMZs, and IP configurations as they relate to server infrastructure

The hiring leader will consider candidates at the professional IT Administrator level (D12).

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs administration of networks, systems and databases including investigation and diagnostics of problems that are deep in multiple technologies and/or platforms and seeks root cause analysis in related domains. Completes projects/outcomes of high complexity.
  • Installs new network server hardware and other devices. Performs complex upgrades, troubleshoots and fixes of network hardware and software issues.
  • Implements, maintains, modifies and supports assigned applications. Works in conjunction with appropriate IT staff to complete project plans, define project scope and participates in systems integration activities.
  • Ensures maintenance of system, tracks systems performance regularly and identifies performance issues and tuning opportunities; recommends improvements where applicable.
  • Effectively communicates with customers, team members or other stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Participates as a team member and contributes to team projects. Mentors less senior staff members and provides peer review and technical oversight.
  • Assists in setting technical direction and strategy; provides insight to help inform leaders.

Bachelor's degree in IT, MIS, Business or related field, plus five years' related experience, or;


Associate's degree in a technical field, plus seven years' related experience, or;


High School Diploma plus nine years' related experience
