Position Summary

Plans and manages projects of moderate to high complexity and confidentiality. Ensures results contribute business value and align with strategy. Provides strategic guidance and support to business areas. Responsible for one or more of the following marketing functions or disciplines: advertising, a large product/business line/strategic initiative, customer/target marketing, promotional events, media relations, brand development, or content development.


Additional Summary:


This position on ERIE's Public Relations & Social Media team will be focused on public relations strategy, proactive and reactive media relations, key message development, reputation management, PR events and CAT communications. 


As a member of ERIE's PR team and working collaboratively with company leaders and executives, the successful candidate will execute proactive and reactive media relations strategies; build and nurture local, regional and national media relationships; generate news, public relations, survey and advertorial content; write company statements and maintain key messages; and prepare leaders and executives to serve as expert media sources. This role will also help manage PR events and the company's catastrophe (CAT) communications executions.


Candidates with experience in public relations, media relations, journalism, reputation management, writing and social media are strongly preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Identifies moderate to highly complex marketing program needs and opportunities and recommend effective solutions.
  • Determines objectives and scope for assigned projects and develops project plans including expenses, tasks, deliverables, resources, assignments, and dependencies. Consults on change management impacts and recommends appropriate action. Works with business area and Centers of Excellence to coordinate tasks as required. Monitors and communicates progress; revises plan as necessary.
  • Plans, creates and/or produces marketing communications/sales promotional materials to implement product marketing strategies, sales or corporate objectives. Produces information materials for communications media to reach the maximum number of customers and prospects.
  • Develops and maintains marketing and communication materials, according to business and product development needs. Coordinates activities involved in the preparation of advertising, sales promotion and publicity in support of the marketing of company products. Consults with product management, sales and internal/external organizations to develop and implement plans.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of marketing and communications programs. Performs in-depth research and analysis related to assigned projects and issues. Tracks, measures and reports on the impact of marketing and communications plans. Implements changes as appropriate.
  • Develops short- and long-term marketing, sales promotion and communication objectives. Works directly with DSMs, Agents and Management to communicate marketing program information.

    The minimum education and experience requirements are as follows: Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, organizational leadership or business and five years' experience in marketing, communications, or related field, including at least five years' experience leading projects, required; or Associate's degree in marketing, communications, organizational leadership or business and seven years' experience in marketing, communications, or related field, including at least five years' experience leading projects, required; or High school diploma or GED and nine years' experience in marketing, communications, or related field, including at least five years' experience leading projects, required. In-depth knowledge of marketing and communications concepts and processes, current research and trends, project management processes, organizational change management concepts required. General Insurance certification, related designation, preferred.
