Position Summary

  • The hiring manager will also consider candidates for Visual Digital Designer II (F10).  Level of position offered will be based upon the depth and breadth of selected candidate's experience and qualifications.

Creates visually engaging, innovative and functional digital experiences and web designs of the highest complexity. Has the ability to merge a vision and concepts with ERIE’s brand, while meeting the technical requirements and standards of assigned web and digital projects. One of the key aspects of your role is a thorough understanding of the right balance between business needs, customer experience, design and representing our brand.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include areas of design such as typography, iconography, color, UX standards, usability and ADA standards. Employees will use their knowledge, expertise and skills in all these areas to help users successfully navigate and interact with ERIE’s digital projects and web sites. Executes concepts and designs to offer up integrated visual and technical solutions.

Applies mature knowledge of design principles; and coordinates this knowledge  with business objectives.

Collaborates with key stakeholders to ensure all executions fulfill requirements and to ensure compliance with design, brand, legal and/or accessibility standards/requirements. Executes design concepts and/or prototypes for use in usability testing and serves as a resource and leader to less experienced team members. Resolves design and technical issues through an understanding of  capabilities and technologies available. Clearly articulates the various challenges around design issues and leads the team to resolution. Contributes to the alignment of customer experiences across projects, programs, products and channels. Acts independently a majority of the time but is expected to keep leadership updated on projects, issues and achievements.

Conceptualize, creates and directs team around interactive experiences for web, e-commerce and social media, including standards for brand and business platforms. Works independently majority of the time.

Ensures visual designs adhere to project requirements, objectives, timelines and brand. Involved in decision-making process across all projects in section.

Leads the development and maintenance of the creative/brand look and feel across digital channels and in support of other marketing initiatives. Makes sure business requirements are supported and deadlines are met.

Provides creative design direction and assistance for other designers in support of brand, functionality and standards for all projects assigned.

Translates client business requirements, user needs, technical requirements into designs solutions.

Remains current on emerging trends in advertising, web and digital design innovations. Executes research around related impacts to the business, communications, customer experience, usability and marketing strategies.

Maintains certification and training around usability and stays on top of equipment and software upgrades that would create efficiencies and help to build business advantages for customers and Employees.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in graphic design/visual arts, or related field required and five years’ experience designing grid systems, editorial layouts, social media assets and applications for web, desktop and mobile; or

Associate’s Degree in graphic design/visual arts, or related field required and seven years’ experience designing grid systems, editorial layouts, social media assets and applications for web, desktop and mobile; or

High school diploma required and nine years’ experience designing grid systems, editorial layouts, social media assets and applications for web, desktop and mobile.

Proficient in the use of Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch and other relevant design and prototyping tools required. Proficiency with Macintosh operating system required.
