Position Summary

Supervises the section and the handling of material damage claims. Also oversees the maintenance and disposal of company-owned vehicles as directed by the Controller Division.

 

  • The successful candidate must reside in the Pittsburgh footprint.
  • This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule (3 days in office, 2 days work from home)
  • Must have a PA Auto Appraiser License

Duties and Responsibilities

Manages overall operations of designated area of authority. Interviews, hires, trains and directs personnel. Prepares and conducts performance assessments, coordinates discipline and oversees Employee development as required.

 

Reviews claim correspondence and provides counsel on further action.

 

Reviews claims in process on a regular basis and takes appropriate follow-up or closing action.

 

Directs salvage disposal. Reviews reports, payments and buyers and negotiates salvage contracts.

 

Handles complaints and inquiries regarding material damage.

 

Maintains and applies a working knowledge of adjuster's files.

 

Makes recommendations to and participates with claims manager in developing and evaluating claims procedures.

 

Trains branch claims personnel and provides material damage expertise and service to Agents.

 

Approves classic and antique automobiles at the request of Underwriting.

Qualifications

High school diploma, or equivalent, required. Two to three years of previous experience in an auto body shop, including writing estimates, or equivalent, required. Five years of previous experience in material damage appraisal work, or equivalent, required. Appropriate license as required by state. Some previous supervisory experience preferred. The position requires the incumbent to serve on the Catastrophe Team, which may include travel on short notice to other locations for periods in excess of two consecutive weeks. Valid driver's license required.
